Favourite Women in Design

At Lianne Charlene Creative we strongly believe in women supporting women, especially within our design spaces. This year for Women’s History Month we wanted to take some time to highlight a few of our favourite Canadian women in design.

1.     Rachel Beyer

Rachel is an illustrator, graphic designer, animator and woodworker. She attended MacEwan University and holds a diploma in illustration and design. She currently works at a boutique design studio right here in Edmonton, Alberta. We love her whimsical colourful illustrations of people she created for the Primary Care Network.

2.     Melanie Lambrick

Melanie is an illustrator currently residing in Montreal. Working with an impressive list of clients such as The New York Times and UberEATS as well as winning several awards such as the 2018 Canadian Women in Design award, Melanie is truly someone to be inspired by.  We love her abstract ideas and retro, groovy illustrations that take us right back to the 1960s.

3.      Laura Prpich

Laura Prpich owns Caribou Creative, a graphic design studio in the Comox Valley. She focuses on branding, packaging, illustration and web design. She has been featured in How Magazine, Hello Canada, Apartment Therapy, The Dieline and Applied Arts Magazine. We love her innovative approach to branding and packaging particularly her detailed work for Salt Spring Island, Drift Food Truck, and Canoe Brewpub.

4.     Valery Goulet

Valery is a French-Canadian illustrator who grew up in Quebec and moved to Edmonton Alberta in 2002. When Valery isn’t working as an instructor at the U of A or MacEwan she is illustrating for herself. Her vibrant mid-century illustration style is nostalgic and timeless. We love her work for the Edmontonia trading card project and illustrations in Avenue Magazine.

5.     Emily Chu

Emily Chu is an award-winning illustrator in Edmonton, Alberta. Born in Beijing and an ACAD alumni, Emily has won several awards from national and international illustration competitions such as 3x3 Contemporary Illustration Professional Show, American Illustration, and Applied Arts. Our favourites project is Emily’s Edmonton illustrations from her #OnLocationYEG project.

6.      Esra Tasdemir

Esra Tasdemir is a Creative Director and multi-disciplinary designer based out of Toronto, Ontario. She is a fellow OCAD University graduate and works in all mediums across digital and print. We love her approach to design, drawing from craft and multi-media in most of her work. Our favourite project is her Me Too. Act Too. project against sexual violence.
